Gayle Saks, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, will share her mother’s harrowing story. Gayle will also discuss the need to pass these stories down to the next generation as they serve as critical pieces of cultural history. Learn more about Gayle and her family HERE. About Gayle: Gayle Saks has written about everything from her mother’s suicide, online dating, to her work with male, female and juvenile inmates and those with substance abuse issues, with deep honesty, candor and humor. She has written extensively about her work as a substance abuse counselor from the unique perspective of someone who is not in recovery herself. Her blog, "My Life In The Middle Ages," was voted one of the Top 20 Recovery Blogs for 2016 by AfterParty Magazine. Her writing on the subject has appeared in HuffPost, The Fix, mindbodygreen, and Thought Catalog. Most recently, Saks was included along with 11 other writers in the #1 bestselling Amazon book, Darkness Before Light: 12 Writers on Addiction, Sobriety and Recovery. Saks grew up on Long Island, New York, and lives in the Greater Boston area with her husband, daughter, two cats and two dogs. She is currently working on her memoir, You Ain’t No Soccer Mom, about her work with inmates, her time as a counselor in an all-male sober living program and her current role as an Admissions Counselor at a New England rehabilitation facility.
