Are you a writer -- or an aspiring writer -- looking for some support? The new Tewksbury Writing Group, which generally meets the third Monday evening of every month, is open to everyone who's interested in writing -- all genres, all skill levels. Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- features a guest speaker (typically a published author or editor) offering some tips of the trade. Between meetings, members can share their work for reading and friendly critiquing via the group's list-serv.

The April 2022 guest speaker is BJ Magnani. Barbarajean (BJ) Magnani, PhD, MD, FCAP, is internationally recognized for her expertise in clinical chemistry and toxicology, has been named a “Top Doctor” in Boston magazine and was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Laboratory Medicine Professionals in the World by The Pathologist. She received her Master’s and PhD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Clinical Pathology at Tufts-New England Medical Center. Dr. Magnani—former Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA—is currently Professor of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology/Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine; and has served as the Chair of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Toxicology Committee.  She is an editor of The Clinical Toxicology Laboratory: Contemporary Practice of Poisoning Evaluation, 2nd edition (AACC Press) and Clinical Toxicology Testing: A Guide for Laboratory Professionals, 2nd edition (CAP Press).

Dr. Magnani is also the author of a successful medical thriller series featuring Dr. Lily Robinson, a brilliant Boston-based pathologist and toxicologist. Books in the series include: The Queen of All Poisons (Encircle Publications), The Power of Poison (Encircle Publications), and the forthcoming A Message In Poison (Encircle Publications). Dr. Magnani has also published a short story collection featuring Dr. Lily Robinson -- the Art of Secret Poisoning (nVision Press). Dr. Magnani will discuss background, how she got into writing, her works, and advice she has for writers. Learn more about Dr. Magnani HERE.

The group is facilitated by author Dale T. Phillips, who has published novels, story collections, non-fiction, and over 70 short stories. Stephen King was Dale's college writing teacher. Dale has found time to appear on stage, television, radio, in an independent feature film, and compete on Jeopardy (losing in a spectacular fashion). He's a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Sisters in Crime.
