**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Meeting via email.**

Are you a writer -- or an aspiring writer -- looking for some support? The Tewksbury Writing Group is open to everyone who's interested in writing -- all genres, all skill levels. Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- features a guest speaker (typically a published author or editor) offering some tips of the trade.

The May 2024 guest speaker is author David Daniel. David was born in Boston and grew up in Weymouth. He studied variously at Eastern Nazarene College, the University of Maine, and the University of Oregon. Drafted, David served in the Army as a journalist. Beginning in his early 20s he traveled widely, spending time in over twenty countries, and worked at more a dozen jobs. These include clamdigger, tennis instructor, carpenter, and brain slicer in the neuropathology lab at Harvard Medical School, all of which he considers valuable experience for writing and for teaching, which became a paired profession. He taught literature and writing at several colleges and universities, including the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where he was the Jack Kerouac Visiting Writer in Residence. He capped his teaching career working at an inner-city charter high school for at-risk students. David is author of more than a dozen books, including entries in the St. Martin’s Press prize-winning Alex Rasmussen mystery series: The Heaven Stone, The Skelly Man, Goofy Foot, and The Marble Kite. Other novels include White Rabbit, a novel of the Sixties. His newest book, Beach Town, a collection of short stories, is a bittersweet look at the loves and losses of characters, young and old, living in a coastal town. He reviews books at https://artsfuse.org and is a regular contributor to https://richardhowe.com.

The group is facilitated by author Dale T. Phillips, a New England writer, who spent his formative years in Maine, and has lived and worked in a number of different places. He graduated from the University of Maine, studied writing with Stephen King, and has worked for over thirty years as a Technical Writer in a number of major industries, translating the work of software developers into clear instructions for using computer software. Dale has published novels, over 70 short stories, collections, articles, jokes, and poetry, and has appeared on stage, television, and in an independent feature film. He has also appeared on two nationally televised quiz shows, "Jeopardy" and "Think Twice." Dale co-wrote and acted in a short political satire film, "The Nine." He has traveled to all 50 states and a number of countries, spanning half the globe, from Hawaii to Greece, and now lives with his family in Massachusetts.
