Are you a writer -- or an aspiring writer -- looking for some support? The Tewksbury Writing Group, which generally meets the fourth Monday evening of every month, is open to everyone who's interested in writing -- all genres, all skill levels. Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- features a guest speaker (typically a published author or editor) offering some tips of the trade.

The May 2023 guest speaker is C.B. Bernard. C.B. Bernard is the author of the novels Small Animals Caught in Traps (Blackstone, 2023) and Ordinary Bear (Blackstone, coming April 2024), as well as Chasing Alaska: A Portrait of the Last Frontier Then and Now (Lyons Press, 2013), a Publishers Weekly and National Geographic top pick and finalist for the Oregon Book Award in nonfiction. Professionally, Bernard has worked as a magazine and newspaper journalist and editor, advertising copywriter, corporate and nonprofit communications director, and freelance writer. He’s also an avid saltwater flyfisherman, occasional boatbuilder, and inveterate storyteller. Over the years Bernard has called nine states home—including Alaska, Oregon, and most of New England—and now lives in Rhode Island’s South County with his wife, a sweet-tempered retriever, and the ghosts of a couple of dogs. Learn more about Bernard HERE.

The group is facilitated by author Dale T. Phillips, who has published novels, story collections, non-fiction, and over 70 short stories. Stephen King was Dale's college writing teacher. Dale has found time to appear on stage, television, radio, in an independent feature film, and compete on Jeopardy (losing in a spectacular fashion). He's a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Sisters in Crime.
