**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Meeting via email.**

Are you a writer -- or an aspiring writer -- looking for some support? The Tewksbury Writing Group is open to everyone who's interested in writing -- all genres, all skill levels. Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- features a guest speaker (typically a published author or editor) offering some tips of the trade.

The August 2024 guest speaker is author Avram Lavinsky. A recovering musician with one gold record on his living room wall and countless unsold records in his attic, Avram Lavinsky has been shortlisted for literary awards including the 2022 Brooklyn Non-Fiction Prize, the 2022 Al Blanchard Award for New England’s best crime story, the 2023 Claymore award for best YA novel, and the 2024 Claymore award for best noir. His recent publishing credits include Mystery Tribune, Shotgun Honey, Punk Noir, Black Cat Weekly, Deadly Nightshade: Best New England Crime Stories 2022, and The Best Mystery Stories of the Year 2023. Upcoming credits include Friend of the Devil: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of the Grateful Dead and Janie’s Got a Gun: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of Aerosmith. He’s also earned starred reviews from the nation’s toughest critics, his three teenage sons, although not often.

The group is facilitated by author Dale T. Phillips, a New England writer, who spent his formative years in Maine, and has lived and worked in a number of different places. He graduated from the University of Maine, studied writing with Stephen King, and has worked for over thirty years as a Technical Writer in a number of major industries, translating the work of software developers into clear instructions for using computer software. Dale has published novels, over 70 short stories, collections, articles, jokes, and poetry, and has appeared on stage, television, and in an independent feature film. He has also appeared on two nationally televised quiz shows, "Jeopardy" and "Think Twice." Dale co-wrote and acted in a short political satire film, "The Nine." He has traveled to all 50 states and a number of countries, spanning half the globe, from Hawaii to Greece, and now lives with his family in Massachusetts.
