**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.**

The Tewksbury Genealogy Group is open to everyone who's interested in genealogy. Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- consists of a presentation from a guest speaker (typically a professional genealogist), followed by a period where members can briefly share their latest genealogy research, and then the library will share a genealogy resource its patrons can access for free.

The March 2023 meeting will feature Irish Genealogy with Michael Brophy. The lecture will start with the central event in the history of Irish genealogy, the destruction of the Public records Office in Dublin on June 30, 1922. As a result, unique challenges and realistic expectations for Irish ancestral research will be discussed. Vital records, immigration documentation, and unique resources will be presented. Examples are used to emphasize key principals and record holdings such as the lineage of notable Irish-American Grace Kelly. The overall goal of the lecture is to give attendees a practical guide to finding the origins of their Irish ancestors in a broad overview lecture.

Michael Brophy is a nationally known, professional genealogical researcher, heir search specialist, and lecturer from the Boston area. He's currently the Vice President of the Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) and the first Treasurer of the New England of Association of Professional Genealogists. Brophy earned an MBA degree from Suffolk University and a BBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He was featured on the TV series "Who Do You Think You Are? "and the Irish TV series Dead Money, a genealogy show about heir searchers.  Brophy has been hired to conduct research for Ancestry.com and several historical authors. He has lectured on a wide variety of genealogy subjects at the National Genealogy Society’s Annual Conference and The Institute of Genealogy and Historic Research (IGHR), specializing in New England and Irish genealogy subjects.
