Take a virtual trip from Providence, Rhode Island to Bar Harbor, Maine to enjoy the sights and histories of New England's many scenic ports. This was the route of author Alison O'Leary's 700-mile summer sailing adventure on her 25-foot sailboat, "Esmeralda." In this program, O'Leary provides insight into the industries, immigrants and traditions that shaped our coastal towns while narrating humorous and interesting points. O'Leary is the author of several books, including Best Day Hikes Near Boston, and co-author with Michael Tougias of Attacked at Sea. She is a longtime journalist who has worked for a number of publications, including as a correspondent for the Boston Globe and editor of The Boston Parents' Paper.
