Tuesday, March 237:00—8:15 PMOnlineTewksbury Public Library300 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA, 01876

**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Meeting via email.**

The new Tewksbury Genealogy Group, which generally meets the fourth Tuesday evening of every month, is open to everyone who's interested in genealogy. Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- consists of a presentation from a guest speaker (typically a professional genealogist), followed by a period where members can briefly share their latest genealogy research, and then the library will share a genealogy resource its patrons can access for free.

The presentation for the March 23 meeting is Getting the Most Out of Ancestry and FamilySearch. Explore the many tools available within each of these websites that often remain overlooked. For example, have you used the Catalog at Ancestry? How often do you refer to the Research Wiki at FamilySearch? For those who have, congratulations! For those who haven’t, this could be a real eye opener. In addition, we all need to make our research easier by using structure: (1) Research plan so as to avoid losing the focus on why you’re doing what you’re doing. (2) Research logs: Where and when did you find or fail to find what you needed. (3) Filing system. 4) Avoid the BSOs – Focus. (5) Asking for help. And learn additional strategies to make your genealogical search life easier to deal with.  Led by Dave Robison, owner of Old Bones Genealogy of New England and professional genealogist from Western Massachusetts. A frequent lecturer, he offers a variety of presentations, classes and workshops both live and virtual throughout New England and the US. He was a speaker at both the 2015, 2017, and 2019 New England Regional Genealogical Conferences (NERGC), served as a Tri-Chair for the 2017 NERGC conference held in Springfield, Massachusetts and now the President of NERGC 2021 and 2023.
