Join Jeff Klapes, the Traveling Librarian, for one of his popular armchair travel presentations. Take a virtual visit to Greece, and explore Athens, the bustling capital that is both ancient and modern. From well-trodden sights like the Acropolis to out of the way neighborhoods, markets, and green spaces, we'll explore the city beyond what most visitors see. Athens is often just a quick stopover on the way to the Greek Islands, but we'll see instead what makes this such a vibrant cosmopolitan city. Klapes recently retired form his position as Head of Reference Services at Wakefield’s Beebe Library, where he served for 26 years, and where he became known as the “Traveling Librarian”. Having visited more than 50 countries and five continents over the years, he does frequent armchair travel presentations showcasing the history and culture of various places, using photography to capture people, scenery, and local details.
