Can't get to Amsterdam to see the big Vermeer exhibition that's in the news? Here's the next best thing! The Seventeenth Century in Holland witnessed extraordinary innovation in science, commerce and artistic expression; Johannes Vermeer was arguably one of the most significant painters of the Dutch Golden Age. This lecture and slide show will illustrate the life of Vermeer through examination of some of his most important and iconic works. Led by Janet Mandel, a retired 32-year art history teacher. Janet now presents illustrated talks on a variety of art history topics at colleges & universities, libraries, museums, senior centers, and community centers.
