Enjoy this historic opportunity to converse with one of the most esteemed First Ladies in United States history! Listen to the Presidentess, as regales you with tales of escaping the Executive Mansion during the British attack on Washington City and learn how she protected the portrait of His Excellency George Washington! If you are fortunate, you may even be invited to one of Dolley’s famous “squeezes.”

In this Immersive Living History Experience, Judith Kalaora, Founder & Artistic Director of History At PlayTM, LLC channels Dolley Madison, wife to President James Madison; 4th President of the United States. It was First Lady Dolley Madison who used her political savvy and intuition to create Washington’s first "bi-partisan" social gatherings, where legislators could mix business and pleasure. Guests and viewers may learn about etiquette and the language of the fan, along with anecdotes from Dolley’s personal experiences that share the abundant mix of emotions involved in being raised as a Quaker woman in Regency-Era United States.

History At Play™, LLC  was founded in 2010 by Artistic Director Judith Kalaora in order to create enriching historical entertainment and to chronicle the lives of influential and often forgotten figures. Kalaora, a Massachusetts resident, graduated Magna cum Laude from Syracuse University and completed the Globe Education Program at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre of London. History At PlayTM, LLC performs nationwide, providing historic in-person, virtual, and hybrid performance and keynote speaking experiences.
