Many people know about Anne Sullivan's role as Helen Keller's beloved teacher, but not everyone knows that Anne Sullivan was herself visually impaired. From 1880 to 1886, Sullivan was a student at Perkins School for the Blind. Jennifer Arnott, the Research Librarian at the Hayes Research Library at Perkins, will explain how Sullivan came to Perkins as a student. Arnott will also detail Sullivan's classes, cottage life, reading, and learning materials.

As an added bonus, Liz Robinson, a volunteer at the Public Health Museum, will briefly discuss Sullivan's time at the Tewksbury Hospital, from 1876 to 1880, and share photographs of her intake records and other associated artifacts.
