Over the past few decades, hospice care has become a more familiar part of our collective vocabulary and experience, yet many of us still don’t fully understand its purpose, scope, costs, availability, and more. Hospice is a philosophy of care that focuses on the patient’s care and comfort, rather than curative measures. Hospice care serves patients with a life expectancy of 6 months or less, as their disease runs its natural course. Hospices provide symptom management and comfort care. Curative measures involving aggressive treatment are normally not pursued. To help us better understand the above, and to provide an interactive platform for your questions and concerns, please join us for a one hour, in-depth conversation about this important topic. Dr. Bernice Burkarth, Chief Medical Officer for Tufts Medicine Care at Home, and Chaplain Eric Redard, Director of Volunteers, Chaplaincy and Bereavement Services for Tufts Medicine Care at Home, will lead the discussion and answer your questions.
