With the end of World War II, a host of new technologies emerged including advanced radar, ballistic rockets, and nuclear energy. It was here that the US military space program began. Solar System Ambassador David S. Ball, a volunteer educator with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, traces the history of our military forays into orbit. Ball served 26 years in the US Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
