POETRY WEEK: Haiku Workshop

Enjoy the first in a two-part creative writing series exploring different poetic forms. In tonight's workshop, participants will learn how to create haikus.  There will be time for writing and (hopefully) sharing. Participants will also be introduced to the poetry forms of sijo and ghazal. Led by Jennifer Jean, a poet, educator, editor, activist, and consummate "literary citizen." Jennifer is managing editor of Talking Writing Magazine, director of Free2Write Poetry Workshops for Trauma Survivors, and she teaches writing at Boston-area universities. She has received many honors, including a 2018 Disquiet FLAD Fellowship; a 2017 Her Story Is residency, where she worked with Iraqi women artists in Dubai; a 2016 Good Bones Prize; and a 2013 Ambassador for Peace Award for her activism in the arts. Her poetry has appeared in: Poetry Magazine, Waxwing Journal, Rattle Magazine, and many others. Limited to 20 seats. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
