IN PERSON: Tewksbury Native Kara Zajac To Discuss "The Significance of Curly Hair"

Tewksbury native Kara Zajac will discuss her new award-winning book, The Significance of Curly Hair: A Loving Memoir of Life and Loss. The book tells the poignant story about the bond between Kara and her grandmother. This heartwarming and enlightening memoir reminds us to cherish our time with loved ones.
In addition to sharing the powerful story of her grandmother with the general public, Kara -- a graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School (Class of 1991) -- also looks forward to connecting with former classmates, friends and acquaintances from her childhood.
Kara Zajac is the author of three books, including The Significance of Curly Hair; The Special Recipe for Making Babies; and The Waiting is the Hardest Part. A freelance writer, Kara's work has been published in Imperfect Life Magazine, Ripped Jeans and Bifocals, and Just BE Parenting. A member of the National Writers Union, she was a finalist for the 2022 Charlotte Lit/Lit South Award for Nonfiction. Her latest book, The Significance of Curly Hair, won the 2024 International Firebird Book Award for Memoir. Kara, who resides in the North Georgia Mountains with her wife and daughter, owns her own chiropractic practice.
