Enjoy a screening of Contagion. Healthcare professionals, government officials and everyday people find themselves in the midst of a pandemic as the CDC works to find a cure. Starring Matt Damon and Kate Winslet. Drama/Thriller. Rated PG-13. 1 hour, 46 minutes. Doors will open at 5:15pm. Candy & water will be served. Presented in collaboration with the Public Health Museum.
After the film, stick around for a Q&A with Dr. Leo Liu, a former editor for ProMED (the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases), a global disease surveillance network that was the first international organization to report on the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak as well as many other epidemics. Dr. Liu has served as a consultant in infectious diseases and international health, for which he has conducted public health surveys in Bhutan and Nepal for the World Wildlife Fund, and led an American team in Sierra Leone during the 2014-15 Ebola epidemic, among other projects. Dr. Liu is also a trustee of the Boston Museum of Science, where he helped to conceptualize the Hall of Human Life. He received his MD from Stanford and postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Imperial College, London.
