IN PERSON: Lunch & Learn -- A Visit with The Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library

Join Erin Fragola, the Outreach Coordinator at the Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library, to learn all about the accessible library materials and services available through the National Library Service and Library of Congress. Through Perkins, you have access to over 75,000 books in accessible formats, including braille, large print and audiobooks. Perkins also offers Newsline, a service where you can to listen to newspapers and magazines through synthetic voice output via your internet browser or any touch-tone telephone. Perkins also provides access to Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD), a website where users can download audio and braille titles and magazines, as well as music scores.

You are eligible to receive services from Perkins if: (1) You are legally blind of 20/200 or worse, or have a visual field no greater than 20 degrees; (2) You have corrected vision, but cannot see well enough to read with comfort for extended periods of time; (3) You have a physical condition that makes holding a book difficult; or (4) You have been certified by a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy as having a reading disability that has a physical basis that prevents one from reading standard print.
