Tuesday, July 27:00—8:00 PMMeeting RoomTewksbury Public Library300 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA, 01876
Receive a comprehensive overview of mushrooms in our ecosystem: from their necessary role as decayers and nutrient providers, to their role allowing nutrient transfer creating a communication system often referred to as the "Wood-Wide Web". This presentation includes a discussion about identifying varieties and a visual tour of the common ones we find in our forests. Feel free to bring in any mushrooms you may have found for discussion! Led by Gary Gilbert, an active member of the Boston Mycological Club, who regularly teaches classes and leads walks north of Boston. He began mushrooming in the 1980’s as a member of the Puget Sound Mycological Society and regularly travels the world foraging and collecting mushrooms for identification. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
