Fright Night: Boston’s History of Séances, Mediums & Immortality

Monday, November 197:00—8:00 PMMeeting RoomTewksbury Public Library300 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA, 01876

Author Dee Morris ("Boston in the Golden Age of Spiritualism: Séances, Mediums & Immortality") will explore the complex history of Boston's spiritualist movement. Dee will detail how numerous clairvoyants claimed to bring messages from beyond the grave at seances and public meetings. Others chose to take advantage of and scam naive Bostonians, which created a backlash led - in part - by world-renowned magician Harry Houdini.  Dee is an independent scholar and educational consultant specializing in nineteenth-century history of Greater Boston. Q&A and book selling/signing to follow. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. This presentation is suitable for both adults and teens.
