**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED**

Although the threat remains low in Massachusetts and there are no confirmed cases in Tewksbury we continue to monitor closely the emergence of the “coronavirus disease 2019” (COVID-19). At this time, no one knows how severe this outbreak will be. In order to protect all of our visitors and in accordance with the Governor’s State of Emergency, the Town Manager has cancelled all events and uses of the meeting rooms (First Floor and Trustees’ Room on the Second Floor) at the Tewksbury Public Library until further notice. The library is open for all other business and is happy to serve your research, reading, viewing and informational needs.

Author Wayne Miller will discuss his new book, "Burn Boston Burn: The Story of the Largest Arson Case in the History of the Country." Relive how a conspiracy of nine men, including three Boston cops and a Boston firefighter, burned Boston and surrounding communities in the early 1980s. Their motive? Tax-cutting measures that caused layoffs of hundreds of police and firefighters.

Over two years, these fire buffs-turned-arsonists torched 264 buildings, causing millions of dollars in damages and hundreds of injuries. The city was ablaze with nightly fires, sirens wailing through the streets, and people too afraid to sleep. Author Wayne Miller lived this case for three years. Miller was a Special Agent, Criminal Investigator and Certified Fire Investigator for the U. S. Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for 25 years. He has been involved in many high profile criminal cases involving illegal firearms, bombings and arson. During his career, Miller examined more than 2,300 fire and explosion scenes, responded to over 25 major incidents, and testified as an expert in more than 40 cases in Federal and State courts in civil and criminal cases. A Q&A and book selling/signing will take place after the event for those interested. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Registration for this event has now closed.
